Shots Fired Near Shelltown Market: SDPD

San Diego police rushed to a Shelltown market around lunchtime Tuesday after multiple gunshots were fired outside of the business.

Police patrol cars responded to Lew’s Market on Imperial at 33rd Street just before 11:30 a.m.

Three men were inside the store and when they walked outside, something prompted one of the men to open fire, SDPD Lt. Christian Sharp said.

The target of the shooting drove away in a white SUV, possibly towing a trailer, Sharp said.

It did not appear the intended target was struck in the shooting, he added.

A gun was recovered in some bushes near the market.

Two men were arrested near 35th and Webster.

Of the two suspects in custody, one was identified as an adult. Officers said the second suspect identified himself as a juvenile.

No other information was available.

The community is south of State Route 94 and east of Interstate 15.
