LA MESA, Calif. – Police were investigating a carjacking and non-injury shooting that happened early Tuesday morning in a residential neighborhood just north of Interstate 8 in La Mesa.
The shooting reportedly happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday at Mary Fellows Avenue and Baldrich Street in a hilly neighborhood near Maryland Avenue Elementary School.
Responding officers told dispatchers that several shell casings were found on Baldrich Street.
The stolen truck was described as a Toyota Tacoma extended cab pickup with a toolbox covering the entire length of the bed. Police asked residents to be on the lookout for a truck matching that description.
La Mesa police detectives were still on scene around 6:30 a.m. investigating the theft.
