Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Car Crash on SR-94

A motorcyclist was killed early Saturday morning in a suspected drunken driving crash on state Route 94 in Emerald Hills, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident started around 3:20 a.m. on eastbound SR-94 at Federal Boulevard when a woman crashed her Blue Honda Civic into the center divider, the CHP said.

Two rideshare drivers pulled over to help the woman and minutes later the motorcyclist crashed into one of the vehicles and then slammed into the Honda Civic, causing it to spin out into traffic lanes, the CHP said.

The force of the crash sheared off the driver-side door of the Civic.

The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital where he died. The woman was transported to the hospital with a severe leg injury.

The crash shut down the freeway for part of the early morning. One lane of traffic was eventually opened, but traffic was backed up for miles once daylight hit. CHP fully re-opened the freeway at 10:15 a.m.

CHP is investigating the crash as a possible DUI.
