A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in La Jolla Tuesday, police confirmed.
San Diego Police Department Sgt. Michael Stirk said a motorcycle and car collided just after 7:50 a.m. at 8755 Gilman Dr., about a half-mile south of the University of California San Diego.
Stirk said the motorcyclist suffered severe injuries and died. No one else was hurt.
A traffic alert was issued, with officials blocking off traffic on northbound Gilman Drive between Interstate 5 and La Jolla Village Drive for several hours following the crash.
