A homeowner fired a weapon Tuesday to stop a suspected car thief, La Mesa police said. Officers received reports of shots fired near Baldrich Street and Mary Fellows Avenue just before 4 a.m. Tuesday and soon after, multiple homeowners reported car break-ins. The suspect fled the area in the stolen vehicle, police said.
