Broken Water Main Floods Intersection in Santee

A water main break off Mission Gorge in Santee has flooded an intersection and shut down several streets.

The main broke at the intersection of Mission Gorge Road and Fanita Drive, according to the San Diego County Sherriff’s Department (SDSO). Mission Gorge was closed in both directions between Fanita Parkway and the State Route 125 offramp.

The same pipe broke last October, officials said. The pipe carries recycled water that is used for irrigation and no residents nearby are without clean water.

Road closures are expected to last until noon Wednesday.

Crews from the Padre Dam Water Department were on their way to the area. Repairs on the pipe are expected to last several days.
