600-Acre Brush Fire Burning at Camp Pendleton


A 600-acre brush fire sparked on the Wilcox Range near the center of the base just before noon Sunday, Camp Pendleton officials confirmed.

The fire was 100 acres just after noon but grew to 600 acres by 3:30 p.m.

The Camp Pendleton Fire (CPFD) Department is at the scene and North County Fire is assisting. 

The fire poses no threat to the district, North County Fire said.
