Valhalla senior goalie makes a splash with new CIF saves record

Valhalla High School senior Zoe Johnson established a new record for career girls water polo goalkeeper saves when she made 12 stops in an 8-7 triple overtime Grossmost Hills League victory at West Hills High School on Jan. 9.

Johnson entered the game needing four saves to surpass the prior career saves record of 920 held by Eastlake graduate Haley Derrod (2009-13).

The 12 saves pushed Johnson’s career saves total to 928 to set a new record.
