‘Taste of San Diego – East’ serves up a celebration of flavors

Another great Taste is in the bag!

At 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3 the trucks, vans and vehicles could be heard rolling into the parking lot at the Town and Country Hotel for the “Taste of San Diego – East” produced by the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce.

This new venue was needed, due to the need for a larger location that could entertain the crowd for this popular annual food related event. Once there, the chefs were busy with their staff preparing the food items in readiness for the guests that began arriving at 5 p.m.

Once the doors opened, the crowd rushed into the Golden Ballroom to the aroma of the various items prepared for this special evening.

“Oh, What a Night!”

There were platters of freshly carved meats and cheeses, freshly cooked pulled pork sandwiches, lasagna, grilled meat for a wonderful taste treat, a variety of sheet cakes for sampling, chicken braised with syrup and other flavors, pizza, freshly baked carrot cakes, chilled desserts, fresh shrimp cocktail, samplings of other delectable items that satisfied the palate of everyone in the room.

The “groan” could be heard as people went from food station to food station, trying to sample as much as they could before they had to take a break and rest from their feeding frenzy.

No one was disappointed.
