SDPD Increases Presence After Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting

The San Diego Police Department will have extra enforcement at local religious buildings after a shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue that left at least eight dead Saturday morning.

Chief of Police David Nisleit tweeted a few hours after the shooting to confirm the increased presence out of “an abundance of caution.”

NBC 7 reached out to police departments in Oceanside, El Cajon, and La Mesa. All said they were not dispatching extra enforcement to local synagogues or other places of worship at this time.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department also said they would not have an increased presence.
