Police Investigate Deadly Shooting in University Heights

Police are searching for several men who may be tied to a deadly shooting in University Heights Wednesday morning.

Officers were flagged down at about 1 a.m. by a man who told them someone had been shot near El Cajon and Park boulevards, San Diego Police Department (SDPD) Lt. Anthony Dupree said.

A 28-year-old man with at least one gunshot wound was found inside a car, Dupree said.

Paramedics arrived and transported the man to Scripps Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short while later, Dupree said.

Police believe three or four men may have been involved in the shooting and are searching for the suspects. Dupree said a light-colored sedan may have been involved.

SDPD said an altercation may have occurred before the shooting and are investigating the incident.
