Motorcyclist Dies in Crash with Pickup Truck in Oceanside

A motorcyclist died in a collision with a pickup truck Sunday afternoon in Oceanside, police said.

The collision happened around 3:20 p.m. when the motorcyclist crashed into the truck at the 2100 block of Oceanside Boulevard near Goat Hill Park, Oceanside police Sgt. Rick Davis said.

The 34-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene after paramedics failed to revive him, Davis said.

The male rider, traveling eastbound on Oceanside Boulevard, was crossing the Crouch Street intersection, when, at the same time, the pickup truck, traveling westbound, turned left onto a business, he said.

The truck driver remained at the scene and was released without a citation, Davis said.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, alcohol was not a factor in the collision,” he said.

The name of the rider has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
