MLB Pitcher Arrested, Padres Taking it 'Very Seriously'

San Diego Padres relief pitcher Jose Torres faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage and making threats or intimidation, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune.The newspaper reports the charges stem from an incident in December in which Torres allegedly knocked a door off its hinges, punched a hole in another door and pointed a gun at someone.  Non-Profit to Help Ease On-Campus Tension at Helix Charter The charges have been filed in Maricopa County, Arizona. The team issued the following statement:  Police Chief Nominee Answers Questions Before Public, City Council “We are aware of the allegations involving Jose Torres, and he will not be reporting to spring training. We take this matter very seriously and are fully cooperating with the investigation being conducted by the Commissioner’s Office.
