Luna Grill to open new restaurant in Santee

Luna Grill Mediterranean Kitchen is opening its 17th location in San Diego County in Santee on Feb. 8. During grand opening week, anyone who orders online from Luna Grill, Feb. 8-11, will be automatically entered in to win free Luna Grill for a year. The winner will receive one free entrée through its rewards program each week for an entire year.

“We wanted to make a splash and we have to do things more digitally now to continue to encourage online orders,” said Morgan Rogers, Luna Grill director of marketing. “Santee is a neighborhood that we have wanted to tap into for a while. We do not have another restaurant in that area. We are really excited in joining the community. I think timing is a little bit tough given everything with COVID-19 and the shutdowns. But we are staying positive and have come together with a firm opening plan so that we make an impact in that area.”

Anyone who registers in its rewards program and picks Santee as their favorite location will receive a free entrée valid through the grand opening.

Rogers said one of the partnerships it has for the grand opening is with Baklava King in Santee. “They make all of our baklava handmade and they will provide everyone with a free piece of baklava during our grand opening week,” she said. “We try and tie in the local community as much as we can.”

Rogers said Luna decided to help workers on the frontline and sent more than 20,000 meals to local hospital workers. In April 2020, it launched its family meal program to give customers a chance to help provide meals for families in need. When everything shut down again in December, Luna launched Buy a Family Meal, Give a Family Meal.
