2. Storms Really ‘Makes it Rain’ for Local Harvesters

Who doesn’t want to find a way to make a few extra bucks? NBC 7’s Melissa Adan found some locals who love to see it rain because the water falling from the sky is putting money in their pockets. She explains the rebate programs for harvesting rainwater in this story.

3. Port of San Diego to Welcome 2 Inaugural Cruise Calls

Watching a cruise liner sail into San Diego Bay is a welcome sight for local businesses and this week, our city welcomed two new European cruise lines, according to the San Diego Business Journal. Guests aboard the MSC Magnifica and The Phoenix Reisen Artania sailed into San Diego this week. The Port of San Diego expects to welcome 300,000 passengers in fiscal year 2019-2020.

4. Gilman Bridge Connects UC San Diego Cover Interstate 5

If you’ve driven along I-5 near La Jolla in the last two years, you’ve no doubt seen the construction. Workers have completed the Gilman Drive Bridge and on Thursday, the official ribbon-cutting was held to open the span to pedestrians and traffic. It’s just one of many improvements planned for the busiest highway in San Diego County.

5. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Puts San Diego on Top 20 Big Cities for Filmmakers

San Diego made headlines when “Top Gun” star Tom Cruise was spotted just outside the main gate to Naval Air Station North Island on Coronado while filming scenes for the upcoming sequel. MovieMaker Magazine said the movie’s production in San Diego is one reason why the city was selected for their list this year. It’s a good thing we’re ready for our closeup.
