Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday were searching for a missing hiker in El Cajon Mountain in Lakeside.
Thomas Marc Castiglia, 50, met with a hiking group Saturday morning to hike to Lunch Rock, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Around 10:40 a.m., Castiglia told the group he was experiencing shortness of breath and told the group to go on without him.
When Castiglia didn’t return from the trailhead around 2:45 p.m., some members of the group began to get concerned and called for help.
Castiglia is an experienced hiker with no known medical condition.
He is described as a bald, about 165 pounds with hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a black sweater, black shorts, green hat and a green backpack with hiking poles.
If anyone had seen him or know of his whereabouts, they were urged to contact the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200.
