Crews Await Daylight to Assess Inaccessible Brush Fire

Firefighters are monitoring a brush fire in the Ranchita area that was first reported to authorities as a possible plane crash on Vulcan Mountain Thursday night. Cal Fire crews responded to the three- to four-acre brush fire in Ranchita, east of Warner Springs and west of Borrego Springs at about 8:30 p.m. Victim of Sunset Cliffs Shooting was Kidnapped, Witnessed Homicide The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department (SDSO) said it first received reports of a plane crash in the area.The fire was in a steep, inaccessible area so crews were monitoring the blaze but were unable to get close enough to determine if it may have been caused by a plane crash as reported, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department (SDSO) said.
