Cars Mangled in Possible DUI Crash on I-8 in College Area

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk after crashes on Interstate 8 in the College area left three cars mangled and a woman badly hurt Friday.

A white car heading eastbound crashed into a guardrail near the Waring Road overpass at about 1:15 a.m. Shortly after, two cars crashed into each other near the first crash site.

Footage of the scene showed three barely recognizable cars on I-8. One was flipped on its head. The force of the crash ripped the engine out of another vehicle.

California Highway Patrol has not said how many people were hurt in the crash but one woman could be seen being placed onto a stretcher and into the back of an ambulance.

One man was given a sobriety test at the scene and was placed in handcuffs. It is unclear what charges he would be facing.
