Big Acts at Petco Park Mean Big Business for Nearby Bars, Restaurants

Petco Park brought more than just big acts for its concerts this weekend; it also brought big businesses for nearby businesses.

Social Tap Eateries employees say this weekend’s lines were wrapped around the restaurant.

“When you’re dealing with a concert that’s sold out just the sheer quantity alone, it’s going to be awesome,” Social Tap bartender Anthony Larios said.

Acts such as Zac Brown Band, the Eagles, Journey and Def Leppard have sold out the stadium and that has boosted sales.

“I would say over a thousand,” Larios said. “I don’t know like per person but like sales wise there are four bartenders we each do like 3.5 thousand a piece so I’d imagine it’s like 15 hundred, a thousand people like walking through the doors, leaving throughout the whole day.”

Workers say many of the customers are from across the country and other parts of the world.

One couple stopped into the restaurant and say they are ready for the crowds.

They drove from Orange County to make the concert Sunday night.

“We came down for the Journey-Def Leopard concert here at Petco Park,” Jon Sleeper said. “We’re prepared for being in San Diego we’re here to have fun relaxing, you know patience, celebrate but we’re expecting a lot of people down here as the afternoon gets going”

Other customers say many hotels in the area were also completely booked for the weekend.
